We'd like to thank the organisers of Let's Party Merriwa, who hosted a trivia night recently in the leadup to the event.
What a fantastic night of fun, with over 130 people attending, including some who travelled from Muswellbrook which is an hour’s drive away. The local Driver Reviver have also been collecting donations for the cause.
With plenty of trivia, dancing (including the Macarena!), and an attendee finally cracking the best way to win the classic coin toss game (by tossing themselves towards the bottle!), by all reports the night was a lot of fun!
Organiser Leanne Hook said of the event:
"The inaugural Let’s Party Trivia Night was a roaring success, filled with endless laughter, spirited debate over obscure facts, and an incredible display of community spirit. Created as a lively pre-event to raise essential funds for our main Let’s Party – MND NSW Fundraising Event coming up in January 2027, the evening exceeded every expectation. The response from residents was fast and enthusiastic, with tickets selling out quickly as table groups eagerly assembled their sharpest trivia minds. From competitive banter over bonus points to enthusiastic bidding during our raffles and auctions, the room was buzzing with joy and generous support from start to finish.
While the night was brimming with fun, the heart behind the gathering holds special meaning for us all. The motivation for launching this initiative grew from our deep affection for our cherished local pharmacist of more than thirty years, who sadly passed away earlier this year after a diagnosis with motor neurone disease (MND). Having cared for local families with warmth and dedicated service for decades, his legacy inspired our community to turn grief into positive action. The incredible eagerness of everyone to step up, join in, and support these events is a true reflection of the love and respect felt for him across our region.
Thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm and generosity, the funds raised throughout the trivia night have provided a strong financial foundation, ensuring that the upcoming January event will be both impactful and memorable. It was a delightful reminder of how much light and good a close-knit community can create when coming together for a fantastic cause. As we gear up for January, the success of the night leaves us energised, deeply grateful, and excited for what is to come."
Thank you for your amazing efforts! We're already excited for Let's Party Merriwa, happening from 5pm Saturday 2 January 2027. You can get your tickets and join in the fun right here!
