What is MND?

In this section you will find fact sheets and commonly asked questions about motor neurone disease (MND), which is also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease in some countries.

Treatment and care

There are several management strategies that may assist with improving quality of live and life expectancy. These strategies include the medication riluzole, good nutrition, non-invasive ventilation as well as multidisciplinary care and equipment.

Information resources

If you are a person living with MND and you reside in NSW, ACT or the NT there is no charge for our publications. This includes family members and friends. Contact your MND Advisor or the MND Info Line to request a copy. Health and community care workers and the general public can puchase our publications from our online shop.

MND research

This section includes information about participating in research as well as information about alternative and unproven therapies and the development and approval of drugs to treat MND.
