We love to celebrate how special our volunteers are, and the amazing work they do for us!
After being nominated for 2026 NSW Volunteer of the Year award, some of our volunteers recently attended their local ceremonies to receive their well-deserved nominee awards.
Tracey Gale and Susan Allaburton caught up with each other while attending the Port Macquarie ceremony.
“It was so good to see Tracey there. We felt very proud representing the MND NSW community. It was a very special honour,” Susan said.
Tracey said ‘being nominated truly meant a lot to me and made the event even more special’.
“I attended the volunteer awards and had the pleasure of catching up with Susan. It was wonderful to see the community come together and celebrate the contributions of so many dedicated volunteers,” she said.
“I sincerely appreciate all you do for our community and your ongoing support. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.”
Our Illawarra volunteer Michelle Price attended her local ceremony and said ‘I don’t think I’ve ever felt as proud in my life to be called out to get my certificate and to have Motor Neurone Disease NSW next to my name’.
“I felt like I was walking on air to go forward to collect my certificate behind loud applause,” she said.
We’d like to congratulate Tracey, Susan, Michelle and all volunteers who were nominated for the 2026 NSW Volunteer of the Year award. We'd also like to thank each and every one of our volunteers who work so hard to help us be there for people living with MND and their families – we simply couldn’t do what we do without you!
